Reed B asked:

I’m trying to rearrange my living room in my apartment, and I’d like to put my sofa against a wall that has a permanently installed air conditioner built into it. Is there a way I can do this without affecting the air flow of the air conditioner? Maybe something along the lines of an attachable scoop or something, to redirect the air? Or I don’t know, SOMETHING that’ll allow me to use that wall for furniture!

I don’t like the idea of leaving my dog in my truck with it running. I want to try and find an air conditioner(s) small enough to be put in and taken out of my truck. If I must leave my dog in my truck I want him to stay cool.

I will report any rude comments.

dougaa asked:

I have a Sharp air conditioner which has a remote control to turn it on and off. Is there something I can connect to my telephone so I can call my house and cause the remote control’s “on” signal to be sent to the air conditioner?

Because the air conditioner is electronic, it loses all its settings if the power is disconnected. That means a power switch won’t work. It has to be done as the remote control would, sending infrared.

I live in a condo and I noticed today that someone planted bushes right in front of my compressor to the air conditioner so they touch the uint. The bushes are only in the front and not on the sides or in the back. Will this cut down on the efficiency of the air conditioner because one side is blocked by these bushes which touch the unit.?

Erin D asked:

I can get a free air conditioner meant for a window that slides up and down but my window slides back and forth horizontally. How can I block the rest of the window and secure the air conditioner so it doesn’t fall out? I live in a 2nd floor apartment so it needs to be secure otherwise it could possibly break or hurt someone. Thanks

Self asked:

It doesn’t happen often, but every now and then, right as the air conditioner tries to kick on, it will blow a fuse, and I’ll need to go to the fusebox to reset that particular fuse. Then it’s fine, and the air conditioner works no problem. This doesn’t happen very often, but it is annoying.

Anyone experience a problem like this before, and any idea what needs to be done and what cost something like this should be for an electrician? Thanks.

What causes a window air conditioner to freeze up in the front where you can see ice on it? My husband sprayed water in the front of the a/c to clean it. He said that it was freezing up before he cleaned it with water that is why he cleaned it. What do you think? How can we get it to stop freezing up? Thanks in advance for your answers.

How does an air conditioner, and a heater work?
I’ve always been curious about it, plus one of the vents is leaking water, :\ and I always wanted to know how an air conditioner uses water.

ShellBullet asked:

I have a 2006 Chrysler 300 and it all of a sudden has a musty-stagnant water smell that comes on for a few seconds right after turning the air conditioner on. The Chrysler mechanic says it wouldnt be covered under warranty but I’m seriously thinking of bringing it in anyway.

He even told me that running the recycled air all the time is bad for the air conditioner. And that I should use the ventilated air as much as possible. I live in Los Angeles so I’d rather not smell the outside areas of my car when I’m driving.

Can anyone please help?????

pabloako1 asked:

I have a split system air conditioner, which when running on heating mode seems to be forming ice on the cooling fins and then cutting out after running for about 20 minutes. For the last 10 minutes of that 20, it doesn’t hardly blow out any heat. If I turn it off and back on again, it blasts hot air out for a few minutes and the starts cooling down again. I have checked the pipes and the insulation foam on the pipes seems to have got extremely hot and melted a bit. I have touched the pipe with the melted foam on and it is VERY hot and the other one is cool.
Any anyone help me work out what could be happening?

Many thanks

Paul.
