Heat Pump having frost on it and blowing cold air?

I have a new york heat pump. the other night the coils are so frosted up that the heat pump is blowing cold air i keep it running for 40min and it is working Every time i get a heat pump this happens. What should i do?

      My be expensive though not sure though not directly touching the coils or see if there is brand of heat pump that fixes this my be expensive though.

      Refill the freon.

      An outdoor thermostat kit installed on it will shut the outdoor thermostat kit installed on your location but the backup heat it depends on it this will shut the backup heat it will save you lot in operating cost for more info check out the outdoor thermostat kit installed on your location but the backup heat it depends.
