Heat Pump question??

Anonymous asked:

Okay, so several days ago, our heat pump outside wouldn’t come on. The “air” (which was only barely cool, and nowhere near what the normal cold air would have been), as well as the ‘heat’ both functioned from the machines in the basement; the heat pump outside never came on when either were turned on to test it. A heating and air guy came out…said there was “too much pressure” in the system and/or compressor or something like that. My grandmother said she saw a lot of steam-like material coming out of it when he did whatever he did, and it apparently started working after that. I don’t think we’ve ever had that problem; what could cause an unknown build-up of that ‘pressure’ after like 10 years of having the machine without that problem? If anything, I’d think the pressure would decrease and need a charging.
