bulldoze2005 asked:

I had a Trane heat pump installed last year. This winter even though I was using mostly wood heat, I noticed my heat pump was running. My power bills were fairly expensive.

Today, even when I had the entire system set to Off, the heat pump was running and then cycling in defrost, all to run again.

When my thermostat is set at a higher temp than the house, it heats the house just fine. The only problem is that the pump just will not turn off shy of shutting it down at the switchbox.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thank you!
