Enceladus asked:

I live in Japan, and my air conditioner hasn’t been heating very well recently. Sometimes it shuts off by itself, but today, it just hasn’t been giving warm air. I have a feeling that the filter needs to be replaced. It’s a rather standard wall mounted air conditioner made by Mitsubishi that is common in Japanese apartments. Any ideas?

I don’t live in Japan, and it doesn’t look like I can make it over there today, but the filter would be behind a panel with all the air slots stamped in it - the one panel that does not have hot air blowing out of it. The panel should pull straight out, or it may need to be lifted up half an inch or so to lift it off the hangers before it will pull off. I wish I knew what type of fuel you burn in it as this could give some additional clues as to why it shuts off prematuraly. Good luck.
