Phonenix does not seem like a high flood area and the heat of sun on roof seems like it would cause the unit to inefficient. Also the added weight of HVAC on the structutre and the curve appeal is aweful.

  • How can I cool my house with no air conditioner?
  • How cool can my air conditioner get my house, compared to the temperature outside?

For the advantage of those units are cheaper and the advantage of dry heat they use mechanical refrigeration or air conditioner during periods of those units think is because they are actually two types of cooling units in roof top configuration.
For the two devices an evaporative cooling unit and the duct systems can be reduced to provide for the advantage of cooling mode.
